I started Well Sewn Style to empower women to use sewing and styling to promote body positivity, creativity and self-love. I am on a mission to inspire all women to get out of the dressing room and into the cutting room. Make something fabulous and love your body, today.
About Mary Alice
I’ve always loved clothes. The colors, textures, styles—I couldn’t get enough. Problem was, I couldn’t find clothes that fit! As a tall, curvy woman finding clothes was a true nightmare. Pants and skirts were too short, clothes that fit at the hip gaped at the waist, button down shirts strained across my chest. Shopping trips often left me empty handed and feeling bad about myself—as if there was something wrong with my body because it couldn’t fit into the clothes.
Over the past year I have thrown myself into designing and sewing my own wardrobe purely out of necessity. I have tried nearly every brand and have yet to find a company that checks all my boxes in regards to fit, price point, quality and style. This blog is a creative outlet for me and an opportunity to help women who may be struggling with the same issues find new ways to create their dream wardrobe.
When I’m not sketching, planning, cutting, sewing or fantasizing about creating gorgeous clothes I work full-time in the non-profit sector. I am mom to a sassy, vivacious, two-year old and wife to a goofy yet ruggedly handsome 31 year old. I live with my happy, little family in Philadelphia.
