Philly summer is upon us and that means long, hot days and hotter nights. Heat soars into the 90’s with uncomfortable humidity. Pants have quickly become obsolete! Enter the t-shirt dress, officially my new summer uniform.
If you’ve got 90 minutes to spare and a tried and true t-shirt pattern you’re in luck. I made my dress with the Cashmerette Concord T pattern (same pattern featured here). I added about 20″ in length to get my midi length t-shirt dress. In addition I added two thigh-high slits for maximum airflow and a simple belt to highlight my curves and have fun with stripes. Fabric is this long-coveted Art Gallery brand jersey knit.
I styled my t-shirt dress with my new Vionic brand sandals that I am currently obsessing over–the comfort is unreal! After destroying my heels on cheap-o flip flops I knew I needed to upgrade. Yes, these are grown up sandals, put down the $5 flip-flops!
Sadly, my hair can’t be helped in this weather. It’s either up in a tight bun or flying free- thanks humidity!
T-shirt dresses are super-simple, comfortable and cool and definitely my new go-to look for the dog days of summer.
How are you staying cool? What are you stitching up to keep comfortable?
Happy sewing and styling,
